Question Hi,
I've had my female betta for approximately 6 months. For the past week she hasn't been eating much. Then this morning, I noticed that her fins are all feathery, like something's eating at them. I'm not sure how to fix it. Any ideas?
I have 2 other male bettas (in seperate tanks), so I'm assuming they will be fine.
Thanks.
Answer Hello Tammah-
Check your tank for a plastic plant...this will be the culprit. The sharp leafs will easily shred her delicate fins. Either trim the leafs so they aren't as sharp, or remove the plant altogether. If you haven't got any plants in the tank, she may be biting her own fins out of boredom or stress. Try to watch her for 24 hours and see what she may be up to.
Adding a medicine called Melafix to the water will help her regrow the lost fins and protect against further damage.
