Question I recently bought a very young iridescent shark and an oscar, both from the same tank at a local Wal Mart. They sales lady said they should be fine together and sold them to me in the same bag. Now I am not so sure this is a good idea. Some people have told me that the oscar will grow faster than the shark and eat the shark when it is capable of doing so. Other people say that is not so and as long as they where together all their lives they should be fine. I would like some information about this situation, as i love both fish and wish to see them live happily together. Thanks
Answer Robyn I hope you realize that your little sharky will turn into a huge sharky and you'll need a 15000 gallon tank! I have had Iridescent Sharks (two in fact) with my oscar he didn't really bother them but he was still small and same size as them when they died (from another fish eating them, I was just starting the hobby). To tell you the truth one or the other is going to eat someone. Just get rid of the iridescent sharks as they will cause more trouble than anything else. I don't know why walmart sells them(this is where I got my sharks too)but they are unacceptable fish to keep due to their size of o lets say 2-3 feet or more. If you still insist on keeping both fishes start investing into a 1500 gallon tank. How big is your tank now by the way?
