Fish & Seafood/how long can mussels keep in the frig before cooking

Question
I bought mussels late Friday afternoon--bought 2 bags and we cooked and consumed only one.  The other is in the refrigerator.  I'm wondering if they can be frozen without cooking, or if they are already not fit for consumtion.
thank you for your help,
Elaine

Answer
Elaine, thanks for your question,

I have been out of town on business.  I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.

I would not freeze the muscles.  You will not like them when you cook them.

I am guessing you already made your decision about what to do. Generally speaking with fresh shellfish try to buy only what you plan on eating for a day or two.  Leftovers are not a good idea.

Thanks and I hope this helps.
