Question I had some guy tell me yesterday that he had a blue crab in a freezer for 1 year and took it out and when it defrosted it was still alive and trying to pinch him. He also said that he had a blue crab jump onto his boat and try to attack him. I truly belive that this is false but I would just like to know for sure. Thank you
Answer Hi Christina, ah yes the famous Blue Crab. These crabs are legendary and tenacious to be sure, but one can get a bit carried away as you have experienced.
I have had much experience with Blue Crabs in that I worked for a seafood company that sold live blue crabs. They come in a wooden basket with a lid. Once you pop the lid they are everywhere. They are very aggressive yes but jumping out of the water and surviving a year frozen is a stretch to reason.
I would have to say he is a bit of a story teller. :)
