Fish & Seafood - small sardines in fish oil

Expert: Greg Shreenan - 5/5/2008

Question
what company still offers this item? (King Oscar seems to have discontinued them.)

Answer
Hi Jean,

Thanks for the question.  I feel your pain!  I know that you have searched high and low on google or other internet search engines and have probably been frustrated.  My best suggestion to you would be to first check with the store that you have been getting them from and ask them why they are not carrying them and if they can tell you where you might purchase them.  I did read that packaging sardines in fish oil is not as popular any more because of the fat content.  Many canners have switched to other oils like olive or vegetable.

If you have already done that and are still stumped then I suggest that you investigate the ethnic markets in your area.  I live in California and there are many different Asian, Hispanic, Philippine, Italian or Hispanic markets or sections within markets that carry different kinds of canned seafood products.

I am sorry that I really did not have any great answers for you.  This one will take a bit of investigation.  I will keep my eye out though as I am now curious myself.  I will send you a follow up if I find anything.

Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to answer your excellent question.

Your Friend, The Fish Guy

Greg
