Question
Hello! Quick question for you...I'm using Zoom Horny Toad products with a 2/0 hook. The bass take it, I wait two-three seconds, set it, and out it comes. What's the problem? Is my hook to big/small? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jack,

Yes, way too small.  Probably a 5/0 for that bait.  In fact, I think Zoom offers a hook made especially for that bait and it is a 5/0.

Also, three seconds may be too long to wait.  A second, maybe two.

One other thing that helps too is putting the hook all the way through so just the tip is exposed.  This little bit doesn't generally effect the weedlessness but helps hook ups tremendously.

Stout tackle and heavy line helps with hook ups too.

Good luck,

Marc
