Fishing - Heddon Expert #125 9' split bamboo rod

Expert: Marc Wisniewski - 7/7/2009

Question
I was curious as to the value of this rod. It is a 9' Heddon Expert #125 3 piece (w/ extra tip) in original sleeve and tube. Ferrule=3f, line size=G B G or C? It has been used, but to my inexperienced eye looks to be in really good condition. I was also curious what a reasonable price to get it reconditioned would be, and how much that would affect it's value. Thanks.

Answer
Hi Roger,

That is a very nice rod and could be worth several hundred, if not five hundred dollars.  Like most collectables, I don't think that a buyer would want the original piece reconditioned.  Reconditioning it could be $200 or more and I don't think you would see that kind of payback.

This all said, I am not an expert on old bamboo rods.  But Joe Douglas on this site is.  He will know more about that rod than anyone I know.  Please repost this question to him.

Good fishing,

Marc
