Fishing/Question on an old Martin #1 reel

Question
I just purchased an old Martin Automatic fishing reel. This one was made in Ilion N.Y. and is a model No.1 s/n 30354. Cannot find anything on the No.1 made in Ilion to see what it is worth. Have any idea?

Answer
Hi

Martin patented his first automatic fly reel in the late 1800s. The 1 was made for a long time. They typically sell for $5-15 range in used condition, more if you have the original box. Yours is the earlier version made in Ilion, they were made in Mohawk, NY later on. Yours is probably from the 1920s. If you can send some photos I can help pin it down.
