Question
I recently came across an outfit. The rod is metal and about 6' long with a wooden handle and has FAIRVIEW stamped on the seat. The reel is a baitcaster marked AJAX with a 40 on the seat. That I believe is a Phflueger. The rod seems to be a 2-piece. Can send pictures if needed. Thanks for your time.

AJAX is a trade name used by Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. Pflueger probably made the reel for them under that trade name.

I dont recognize the rod, probably also a trade rod. Steel was used from the mid teens into the 1940s as a low cost rod (eventually replaced by fiberglass).

The reel is in $10-30, the rod $10-20 range.
