Question
I bought a house and found a Barney & berry 7016 fishing rod it opens to 6 1/2ft. I have no clue about it. Can you help.  It also has a reel it says ocean city 1600

Answer
Charles

Barney and Berry was a metal products manufacturer (ice skates, etc) that was purchased by Winchester. Winchester used the name for a line of fishing rods and reels in the mid to late 1920s.  It sounds like a casting rod based the description and reel installed on it.

Unfortunately, Winchester items that are not marked Winchester do not carry nearly as much value.

Ocean City was one of the major fishing reel manufacturers from the 1920s thru the 50s. the 1600 is a pretty common model.
