Question Does anyone remember Kazoo? I'm not sure of the correct spelling. Wasn't he a little martian looking guy that was maybe Fred's conscience. I can't remember if he was good or bad, but he sat on his shoulder. No one seems to remember him. Do I have the wrong cartoon?
Answer Actually the character was The Great Gazoo. He was voiced by Harvey Kornman (who also voiced some bad guys over the series run). But Gazoo was a good guy and a friend for Fred and Barney's.
Gazoo lived in the 30th century but due to some mistakes he was banished to the stoneage in a capsule. He was imprisoned in this capsule until someone found it. Fred and Berney found the capsule and the Great Gazoo inside. Gazoo's task was to serve Fred and Barney's needs. Only Fred and Barney could see him because they found him but all other adults like Wilma and Betty for example could not see or hear Gazoo. Children and animals like Pebbles, Bamm Bamm, Dino, and Hoppy could also see Gazoo because they have vivid enough emotions to understand someone like Gazoo.
Gazoo was found in episode 147 in season 5 called "The Great Gazoo". He appeared in half the succeeding episodes until the series end that season. So he was only in the final season from 1965 to 1966. He appeared in 11 episodes in about 9 months.
