Answer This question is too long and involved for me to help with.
BUT if you can give me several specific questions I may be able to be of more help.
Ths show was loosly based on The Honeymooners which was a sitcom aired from 1953-58. The Flintstones aired 1960 to 66.
Some also say it seemed a bit based on I Love Lucy as well but far less than the Honeymooners.
In comparison to the Honeymooners ... Fred Flintstone was the equivelent of Ralph Kramdon...Wilma was the equivelent of Alice Kramdon...Barney Rubble wwas the equivelent of Ed Norton and Betty Rubble was similar to Trixie. Tyhe Flintstones were a bit better off financially and lived in a small town setting while the Honeymooners were near poor and living in an old dilapidated appartment building in New York City.
The Flintstones began as a strictly adult cartooon with adult subjects and not really a kids show similar to what the Simpsons would be today. Fred was especially nasty and loud in the first season though he knew how to sing. When there was a conflict it was severe. By the second season Fred mellowed slightly though he no longer could sing. In the third season Pebbles was born and toward the end of the season Bamm Bamm was adopted by the Ruubes. By the 4th season the series became more family oriented in most cases though they also had some episodes that were focused on more adult (not x or rated matters)subjects. Still some episodes were purely fantasy. In the last season the series seemed very tame compared to the early years plus it seemed to be slightly more for kids. The series was cancled at the end of the 6th season. After that The series aired on syndication from 1967 to 1998 and on cable since 1993 and strictly cable since 1998.
Hanna Barbara made more kid type Flintstones shows focusing more on kids in the early 70's with a series called Pebbles & Bamm Bamm. In 1978 they made more kid type episodes in a series calle Fred & Barney and in the 80's called Flintstones Kids. These shows were soft in nature and strictly for kids between 5 and 12.
The 1960's series initially was geared for young adults 18-39 but suitable for 12 plus kind of a PG. Later episodes were more for General audiences and more for kids over 7 as well as adults.
In many ways shows like The BRady Bunch, Dennis The Menace (Black & White Sitcom from early 60's), Andy Griffith, Happy days, LEave It To Beaver were intended for younger audiences than The Flintstones.
Thats all I can think of now. If you have more specific questions feel free top follow up.
