I can help. I have installed wood, laminates, tile, marble, ceramics, vinyl, and painted applications. I have done some stone work, but that is seldom used anymore.

Experience
My first work was in flooring and interior designs.   My first job... every room of the house was a different color of walls and carpet.   It can work...

Flooring and Carpeting - installation of flooring

Question
I NOW HAVE VINYL FLOORS. I HAVE PURCHASED BRAZILIAN CHERRY HARDWOOD FOR HALF OF THE ROOM AND CERAMIC FOR THE OTHER HALF OF THE ROOM. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE CONTRACTOR SHOULD BE SAYING HOW HE WOULD DO THE JOB IN HIS ESTIMATE? I REALLY WANT THE JOB DONE RIGHT AS YOU CAN IMAGINE. I THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME TO ANSWER MY QUESTION ON HOW THE JOB AND THE FLOOR WILL BE EVEN. AGAIN, THANKS ANNA

Answer
The wood floor is installed first.  Depending on the substrate...glue to concrete or nailed to plywood.  The elevation may be a situation for the tile to abut the wood.  This is where the contractor has to help with your decision.  Sometimes  a trim strip of wood can transition from tile to wood, without it being a threshold.
