Question a "white" line appears at the edge of some of the natural slate flooring next to the grout. I pointed this out to the installer before he sealed the floor. He said it would disappear once the floor was sealed and had dried. However, on the lighter stone pieces, the line still shows.....not so much on darker pieces. Is there anything I can do now that the floor is already sealed.
Answer If the white is a lime deposit, you can clean if off by removing the sealer, then using an acid based cleaner.
I have seen some floors with a white "line" that is some sort of material that leaches from some grouts, and I was unable to find anything to get rid of it, as it penetrates right into the stone, and cannot be removed. If this is what this is, the only thing I know of is to break out the affected pieces and replace them.
