Question I am considering buying a house with a brick floor that I believe is original to the house built in 1967. I do not like the pink/tan color of the brick, so my first choice would be to lay a wood floor over the brick but was told this cannot be done. So I think the next best thing would be to strip the sealer off the brick and stain it a darker color, then reseal it. Is this possible? Is it a do it yourself project or should I have it professionally done?
Thanks for your time,
Kat
Answer I believe that if you look around, you will find that you can put a wood floor over a brick substrate. Check with a flooring contractor.
You can strip the bricks, and apply a wood stain that is thinned out somewhat, followed by a sealer and a floor finish. You should not have any real problem doing this yourself.
