Question
Recently we have pulled up old tile. The thin set underneath, is very tenacious and grinding and chipping are almost non productive. We would like to have stained cement floors as our flooring replacement choice. Can we apply a cement overlay on the thin set? If so what products should we purchase? The thin set a mortar is solid and well bonded to the cement slab. There is no visible cracking what so ever.
Answer
A overlay thin set will most likely just brake off quickly. An 100% epoxy coating may work but is the thin set under it may break up over time anyway. Sorry there are no good choices for you. You can get a quote on materials at www.concrete-floor-coatings.com
