Question Hi i was sanding a wood floor and hit the side of a black slate hearth it put a big scratch ontop wat can i put on the slate to cover it up
Answer Thank you for your question Mike,
Slate is a very easy material to fix this kind of happening. Really all you need to do is purchase a small bag of 0000 steel wool, take a bucket of water and dunk the steel wool into the water and then simply rub out the scratch and then blend the rubbed area outwards so that it gradually blends the surface of the tile. Now just let it dry for a couple days and then reseal either the single tile or the entire Fireplace back to a nice luster. I always use a "color enhancer" for Slate as it is a matt finish and will restore the colors of the Stone that would otherwise go unnoticed if left natural...ok? That's it Mike, I hope this helps you with your problem. Feel free to return anytime...
