They are specialty stores where the floor package can cost upwards of $50,000 for one store. I have also done "Structure" stores and J. Flooring and Carpeting - Marble Tile

Question
I resently had marble put on my floor.  The installation was not that great.  Their is a small unleveling problem.  I saw online that you can sand the marble to a smooth finish with a huge sander. Where does one find this sander or rent one or find someone to do it?  Is it an expensive process.

Thanks Shelly

Answer
Thank you for your question Shelly

Well the "idea" is correct but the process is a little incomplete. Sanding the Stone will do little more than possibly add to the sheen of the Stone in particular if it is a "honed" Stone. In order to address "lippage" it will take a much more significant piece of machinery. A Stone grinder that employs a series of grinding stones will be whats required to flatten out any raised corners and or reduce humped tiles within the field. A "sluiced" liquid is applied to the surface to lubricate the surface and cool the grinding stone and contain the dust. This is a process not recommended as a novice application. Whether it is expensive or not is really relative to where you might live and the amount of available work in your area. This kind of process is "always" negotiable. Just check out a couple references as you do not want another novice to gain their experience on "your" job...follow me? You can find a contractor in the Yellow Pages under Marble Restoration, or check with your Local Tile Supply Stone or Marble Supply Yard. Ok Shelly I hope this helps you with your problem, feel free to return anytime...
