(well were putting metal stair nosing) but is it ok to drill screws threw the laminate floor underneith it to attach it,if not what options do i have?
Answer Michelle,
These are the products I like to use and purchase all the time. Follow the links...scroll down and see the WEBCRETE 95...click the PDF file
http://www.bostik-us.com/markets/flooring/carpet-vinyl-patch-products/products/d...
If that is not available use the Mapei PLANI PATCH...I think Lowes sells Mapei
http://www.mapei.it/Referenze/Multimedia/Planipatch_TD_EA.pdf
Also Home Depot sells Henry Products 447 %26 575

You need a steel trowel and a straight edge...some buckets a sponge for clean up ... and a fan for speed drying the areas.
Regarding the stair.... yes pre drill the wood or drill in place and use metal nose as a template ...You can secure this one piece in place without harm. Do not drill the subfloor allow the fastener to have something to hold too. The decorative twist nails will not be strong enough ....use a real screw! Find something that compliments the metal nose. #6 oval head wood screw?? about 1.5" long. If you are crafty the best thing to do is drill the wood plank only slightly larger so there is a bit of free play about the screw... the screw bites in to the sub floor ...not the wood plank. Follow me on that??
