Flooring and Carpeting - What is causing mildew smell and wet carpet?

Expert: Carol Blaha - 6/30/2009

Question
I live on ground level 2 story apt and when I run my AC (central air)my carpet gets wet by the floor vents Can I fix this prob self? What is the cause? and is my health at risk being exposed to wet mildewy smelling carpet????? PLEASE RESPOND ASAP

Answer
yes mildew/mold is a health issue.  It can be a huge issue.  Don't dismiss this.;

You haven't given me enough info-- but my guess is the AC and its water is creating the issue.  Push and make the landlord deal with it.  No, you can't fix yourself unless you get into the unit and source of water.
