Question Hi,
I've got beautiful presealed saltillo tiles that have been installed for 17 years with no problems. I mopped my kitchen area with swifter pre-wett towels and now some of the sealant has come off. should I remove the sealant and reseal them? what products will I need. Also, do I need to seal the grout too?
Answer Best to remove the sealer completely from the affected tiles, and then reseal them after they are dry. If it's just a tile here and there, you can use acetone, keeping the tile wet with it for a couple minutes. The remaining sealer should swell and blister at which point you can knock it loose with a small brush. This sounds like it is most likely a water based sealer, so in order to keep the tiles looking even, reseal with a waterborne such as our SPS and Dress Up.
