ANSWER: I am not sure how it is done in trains....because I have never done it. I have never examined a train flooring installation. However I believe the best approach would be to glue the carpet down. They also have systems called DOUBLE STICK which I have installed in yachts and motor coaches.

Yes it can be done and can be very comfortable.

QUESTION: Dear Chris

Thank you.

In both the automobiles i.e. Trains and Buses, the Carpet installation has to be done before the Seating Chairs are installed and fixed with the machine/s ?.

i.e. Carpet Installation first and then Fix the Seating Chairs since it looks like the seating chairs are permanently fixed in the trains and buses.

So it might be difficult to fix Carpets once the seating chairs are fixed
in Trains and Buses. Is it ?.

Answer
This is my opinion only.
If you have control of the vehicle and installation I would install the carpet first. Making sure you have a template for locating the mounting holes of seats and fixtures. Remove the carpet only at the mounting holes so fastening devices are free to connect ...screw.. bolt etc.

Mount the fixtures after the carpet is installed. For the future each car or bus or vehicle will need to be taken out of service to retrofit. Remove seats and then remove carpet.

If that option is not practical you can, with more difficulty, install the carpet after the seats and fixtures are installed. The feasibility of installing after the fact is determined by the amount of clearance for materials to be fitted and working hands.

I have not been on a train in 25 years ....I suspect that they use rubber flooring ??? I am curious now. I might have a look at the local train station.

Best regards,

Chris
