AboutDave Coil Expertise I can help. I have installed wood, laminates, tile, marble, ceramics, vinyl, and painted applications. I have done some stone work, but that is seldom used anymore.
Experience My first work was in flooring and interior designs. My first job... every room of the house was a different color of walls and carpet. It can work...
Question I have a Bruce engineered wood floor. It was installed about 5 years ago. The men who installed the floor must have been new at the trade and I knew nothing about how the surface had to be prepared. The floor was glued directly onto concrete flooring and in the kitchen directly onto vinyl flooring. Within a year several spots on the floor came loose and in the kitchen there is a hollow spot that is getting larger.
My primary question is how do I go about repairing these void spots and what kind of adhesive should I use on the wood to vinyl situation in my kitchen?
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Answer I repeatedly inform consumers...do not glue another flooring to vinyl...it doesnt stick and comes loose. You are another example of my point. Without drilling holes in the wood to get another adhesive under it...you have no options. I put 1/4" marine plywood, glued and weighted down on my concrete prior to glue/nail application on my kitchen floor. I know is was a lot of work...it paid off in spades. Contact a Bruce representative and explain your situation. Maybe the installer can be held liable for the install and made to do it right.
