Flooring and Carpeting - Peel and Stick Vinyl Tiles

Expert: Dave Coil - 7/15/2004

Question
Can peel and stick vinyl tiles be applied over existing ceramic floor tiles?  Should the quarter round be removed first?  Any other tips for installation?

Answer
Please understand this answer.  Professionally I refuse to install peel and stick tiles.  They are not a good flooring choice for kitchen and bath...they hold dirt, desease, grime...etc.   The cracks cannot be filled...they shift they will come loose.  Please give this thought before installing them.   Yes peel and stick tiles can be installed over any flat surface.  The grout areas may need to be leveled first.
