I can help. I have installed wood, laminates, tile, marble, ceramics, vinyl, and painted applications. I have done some stone work, but that is seldom used anymore.

Experience
My first work was in flooring and interior designs.   My first job... every room of the house was a different color of walls and carpet.   It can work...

Flooring and Carpeting - Scratches in finish on hardwoods

Expert: Dave Coil - 6/3/2005

Question
Hello,
We have prefinished hardwoods all throughout the house and have a dog who has scratched them up pretty good in less than 4 months time.  The scratches appear to be only in the finish and not down to the actual wood.  Is there any way to remedy this?
Thanks!

Answer
Depending on the extent of the area...surface fixes are fairly easy.  Using a 300,400 grit wet/dry sandpaper....touch up the areas and use a spray can of polyurethane to pukt the finish back on.  One little trick that might help....put a small puddle of lacquer thinner on the spot to be sprayed...then spray the poly into that puddle where the area was sanded.  This should prevent overspray.  If you can find an inconspicuous space....test this for your practice.
