stanley, no one should ever use a straight edge on berber, rather it should be row cut so you don't cut the loops...most carpets are made in row's....also you can row run plush carpets as i have been doing for all my carrer...28 yrs....the only seam that should be straight edged is the dor way seam in which i row one side and trace cut to the other,,....hope this helds
