Do NOT use the ceramic tile adhesive or any other mastic adhesive for ceramic soap dishes, towel bars, etc. No ready-made adhesive I've ever used will work for these! Instead, get yourself a small bag of grout in a color that matches whatever grout you may have already in place, mix a handful or so with water to form a thick paste, slap some into the recess and onto the back of the soap dish, push the dish into the recess, and tape the dish in place. Use a wet rag or sponge to remove grout that may have leaked out. Leave the tape in place for 48 hours, then grout around the soap dish. If you do it right, your soap dish won't budge without bringing a chunk of the wall with it.
