I can help. I have installed wood, laminates, tile, marble, ceramics, vinyl, and painted applications. I have done some stone work, but that is seldom used anymore.

My first work was in flooring and interior designs.   My first job... every room of the house was a different color of walls and carpet.   It can work...

Flooring and Carpeting - polyurethane floor covering

Question
Hi, we are remodeling our kitchen and will be putting in new flooring.  For economic reasons mostly, I am interested in trying polyurethane (with paint underneath).  we have linoleum currently.  Will we need new underlay when we pull up the old linoleum?  I am unable to find much information about this process.  Can you enlighten me or direct me to a source?  Thanks!  Beth

Answer
Your question is a bit interesting.  If your linoleum is glued to a particle board underlayment, and you wish to re install a linoleum...the underlayment will either need repairs or replacement.  If you are painting your floor...what are you painting?   Is it the underlayment that previously had linoleum, or a wood floor or concrete?
A little more information will help me give you a better answer.
