Flooring and Carpeting - wood flooring

Question
Hello and thank you so much in advance for your answer!
We just finished refinishing our wood floors. We LOVE it! Under a dark finish of what we concluded was some sort of paint and varnish cobination we discovered quarter sawn red oak! We were and are thrilled with the results! Now here is my question: When can I move furniture back into the rooms that we refinished? We used Minwax fast drying polyurethane. It has been 3 days since the final coat of poly. I don't want to be too impatient and ruin all the hard work that we have done, but at the same time I am so excited to actually use these rooms!
Thanks again, Lisa

Answer
KNife test.  If you can mar the finish with a kitchen knife with little or no pressure.... keep waiting.    Also depending  on the number of coats you put on.  Multiple coats require longer cure time.  If you only put on one coat..... consider more...that is a bit too thin for durability.  Remember too... poly is Plastic.  It Never Gets HARD.   Shellac and Lacquers get hard.  Secondly, go get some felt coasters for all your furniture.  This removes the scuff quality of furniture till the finish is Well cured.  It can cause couches to move about as you sit in them.... but only till the poly is cured... weeks if need be... but you can start moving in. $10.00 investment for years of protection.
