Subject: cut peony flowers

Question
Please can you tell me the best way to get peony blooms to open quickly.

Answer
You see ants on peonies for a reason.. they eat the nectar that seals the bud shut!  Other than importing ants...what you can do is dip the buds into a warm bath, cut the stem on an angle and place the flower up to it's neck in warm warm overnight.  This should quicken the process.  Good luck!
