Floral Arrangements - Silk flower arrangement

Expert: Jessica - 12/28/2003

Question
Jessica,
I see these silk flower arrangements in vases at stores. What is it they use that looks like water but its solid. Is it possible to do that at home? Thanks.

Answer
Hello!  The substance they use to imitate water in silk arrangements is a clear acrylic.  It's actually sold in craft stores as acrylic water.  You mix the ingredients in the kit together, fill your vase with it to the desired level, and then add your silk flowers.  The acrylic will set and harden, usually overnight.
