Question
What can you tell me about an old song called "Aram Sa sa"? Language? Origins/

Answer
Hi Mi,

Only what I can find on the Internet.  Google comes up with this :-

Aram sa sa

Aram sa sa, aram sa sa, gali gali gali, gali ram sa sa.
Aram sa sa, aram sa sa, gali gali gali, gali ram sa sa.
Arami, arami, gali gali gali gali gali ram sa sa.
Arami, arami, gali gali gali gali gali ram sa sa.

Trad (Aramaic)

It appears in collections of campfire songs, so I guess it's commonly sung at such gatherings.

Please note that my expertise is in English, Scottish and Irish folk music.  I do not aspire to answer questions on non-English songs, though I have given you this answer because it was easy to find the information.

Hope that helps.

Folk Music, particularly the Child Ballads and that great body of industrial and work-related songs which arose during the Industrial Revolution. I am well-versed in the history of the Folk Revival, and I have a particular interest in political and agit-prop songs, as well as in traditional Irish dance music. For ten years I was a committee member and resident singer/song-writer/musician with the Grey Cock Folk Club in Birmingham (the pre-eminent traditional club in the English midlands, which was founded by Charles Parker of `Radio Ballad` fame).
