Food Engineering/Manufacturing - selling products to a major company

Expert: Jim Pfister - 3/23/2008

Question

Hi Mr. Pfister,
I am interested in selling my food product to a major food company. Basically I want to sell my product to be used by a larger food company.

I have 3 different kinds of salsas and a cranberry sauce. You mentioned in a past question you knew of someone in this industry that does this on a private label basis and would forward information to him or her.   I don’t live in California, I’m in Chicago,  but I am still interested. Can you assist me?

Mecca

Answer
Mecca,
My past private label client has not responded to recent inquiries, so I'm thinking he's out of the mix.

The best thing to do for Chicago, or any place else, is to serch through the contract packers Assn database, which you can do on their website.  It lists all their members, and the types of packing they do.
