Food Packing/Distribution - Misleading labeling on a product

Expert: Jim Gawley - 8/20/2008

Question
The labeling on a bottle of cooking oil say's in large print "PurOliva" with a picture of an olive branch and olive berries and in fine writing it says a blend of canola oil and olive oil.
 Is this misleading product labeling?

Answer
Barry,
FDA regulates food labeling. I am not qualified to make that call. There are a number of law firms out there that specialize in this area.

You can find more about FDA's policies at:

Regards,
Jim
