Food Safety Issues/Spoiling Soup

Question
I live in a house with 10 people, so when I make a pot of soup, it is a very large pot. It seems like very time I make a chicken or vegetable soup, it goes bad...almost overnight. It is not necessarily that there is mold on it, but it smells bad and it is "bubbly". We have tried leaving it in the pot, splitting it up between containers, putting it away hot, letting it cool on the counter overnight, then into the fridge. Nothing seems to work. Please help me...what is the best way to salvage these meals?? I spend a lot of money for fresh ingredients so this really is discouraging!!
Thank you for your help.

Answer
JoAnne,

I really can't understand why it would go bad so soon, one thing is that you can not leave food unrefrigerated overnight not even for more than 2 hours. Although it is cooked bacteria is growing. I would let it cool and possibly freeze the soup therefore you will know that it will definitely last for more than one day.
