Food Safety Issues - chicken

Expert: Carl Copeland - 3/21/2008

Question
How do I tell if chicken is bad?

Answer
Geneva,

How are you doing today?

Other than an obvious pungent smell, I would rather provide you with the suggested storage times for chicken as it sometimes hard to tell if chicken is bad or not.

Poultry  Storage time after purchase 1 to 2 days
Cooked poultry  3-4 days.
Frozen chicken pieces  9-12 months
Frozen chicken whole  1 year

Carl
