Question Dear Sir,
I stay in West Bengal, India, and there is arsenic contamination of water in certain districts of this state. Although I do not reside exactly in such a district (but very close), can you help me with the following,
1. How to detect and remove arsenic from water at home?
2. How to detect and remove arsenic from vegetables at home?
Thankfully yours,
Yasser
Answer Most water testing labs can test for arsenic, the test is relatively inexpensive. A reverse osmosis treatment device installed on the faucet where you get water for drinking and cooking would remove arsenic entirely.
Vegetable crops can accumulate arsenic in the roots. Onions, carrots, potatoes, etc should be avoided if the level of arsenic in the water and soil where they are grown is high.
