Food Safety Issues/frozen beef

Question
Is beef frozen for four years safe to eat in a stew or soup?

Answer
Hi Roger,

As long as the meat was continually frozen it is safe to consume.  Freezer guidelines for foods are based upon quality, not safety.  Foods in the freezer do not maintain quality when frozen for many years and you will probably notice an old taste or appearance to the meat.  This however is not unsafe to consume, just not as appetizing as younger frozen meat.
