Food Safety Issues - steak

Expert: Carl Copeland - 5/3/2009

Question
I have a steak frozen before sell by date. Thawed and marinated 2 days after.  It appears to be slightly brown all over but smells fine. Is it okay to cook and eat

Answer
Caleb,
How are you doing today?

The steak should be fine to eat, do not concern yourself with the discoloration as most meats are dyed in order to make them look more appetizing. Considering the time of purchase and you freezing the meat everything should be ok.
