Food Safety Issues/Retail food safety

I work at a grocery store. Our deli fries fish with other meats, burritos, potatos, etc... I can always taste fish. I hate it, and many people have complained, but our store manager just says i am too sensitive! Is it against the law to fry fish with other items? What if someone had severe allergies to fish and didnt know their chicken was also fried with fish! also, our meat dept. uses the same scoop to remove the ice that fish and other raw meats sit on and scoop out pebbled ice to our guests! is that against some health code? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

It is not against any health dept. code that I know to fry fish with other items. I don't see this as an allergy issue since the allergic reaction is to the proteins in the food that don't affect the oil. This is a quality issue. The ice may be another matter. If product is sitting on ice whether it's meat or fish, you can't serve this ice to guests. Only fresh ice can be served to guests. There would also be a cross contamination issue. You can't have fish and meat on ice anywhere near each other. Have you tried expressing your concerns to the manager. Just tell them a customer brought up these concerns. You won't be lying. You ae a customer if you consume food from the store. good luck.
