Food Safety Issues/Frozen Meat left out overnight

Hi Carl,

I left rock solid frozen raw filet mignon out overnight in a sealed plastic freezer bag by accident. It was out about 11 hours and then I placed it back in the refrigerator.
We were planning on browning and putting into a beef barley soup. Is it safe to eat?

Thanks kindly.

The rule is it can't be out above 40F for more than 4 hours. If it was frozen solid you will be fine. I'm saying this because I work a lot with frozen food that gets thawed out from power failures. Meats that are frozen are safe for 12-16 hours before they are potentially hazardous. Your beef barley soup has filet mignon in it for the beef. That must be great soup!
