Food Safety Issues/slimy ham slices


I have had these thick slices of ham in a plastic closed bag in fridge for over a month and they are slimy but do not smell spoiled, just strong.  I thought I recalled my folks rinsing ham slices with vinegar to refresh them.  Can I save these and eat them safely?

It's a quality issue and it won't result in food poisoning if the ham is refrigerated below 40F. Personally I never eat food that has been compromised in any way. Bacteria associated with spoilage is the likely cause. If you are going to save them I would freeze them. Once ham is opened it will last longer than most cold cuts because the meat is cured and salted. It should last about 10 days before spoilage bacteria begins to affect the quality.
