Food Safety Issues/forgot to plug crockpot in - chicken

My husband and I both forgot to plug in the crockpot of chicken for 1.5 hours. The chicken was thawed. The chicken was marinated in Honey BBQ sauce in the crockpot. Is it safe to eat?

Hi Betsy,

If the chicken was cold (41 degrees F or below) and it was truly only out 1.5 hours before heat was applied, then the chicken should be safe to cook and consume.

Be sure to cook the chicken to a minimum of 165 degrees F internal temperature before consuming.
