Food Safety Issues/turkey bacon

We put butterball turkey bacon in the freezer immediately and defrosted it 4 days later intending to use it that day.  how long in the refrigerator after defrosting will it be safe?

Dan, As far as the safety of the turkey bacon goes it will be safe to eat indefinitely if stored under refrigeration (40f or below)after thawing. This assumes you refrigerated the bacon within 4 hours after thawing. This is because bacteria associated with food poisoning won't grow below 40F. There are bacteria associated with spoilage (a quality issue) that grows below 40f. This is why milk (and anything else including bacon) will spoil after awhile even under refrigeration. Bottom line...your turkey bacon is safe to eat and the quality should be fine as well. Great question Dan. It reminded me that when my father-in-law passed away the doctor put down that he died from food poisoning from drinking spoiled milk. I told the doctor that you don't get food poisoning from drinking spoiled milk. He told me I was wrong and I told him to do some research. The next day he told me I was correct. You might get an upset stomach from drinking sour milk but it's not food poisoning.
