Food Safety Issues - Cheesecake left out

Expert: Carol Schlitt - 3/20/2007

Question
I baked a homemade cheesecake and left it out from 8:15 p.m. until 5:15 a.m.  It
is still edible?

Answer
Hi Michelle,

Since cheesecake contains potentially hazardous foods (eggs, dairy products, etc.) our recommendation is to not consume foods containing these items if they have been in the danger zone (40-140 degrees) for more than 2 hours.

Sorry....

Carol
