Food Safety Issues - Frozen Omaha fillet mignon

Expert: Carl Copeland - 11/10/2007

Question
I received some Omaha frozen fillet mignon as a gift two years ago. They are vacuum packed and have been continually frozen for this time period.  Can I use them or should they be discarded?

Answer
David,
You must have definitely forgot about the filet mignon, this is my favorite meat. The storage timeline for frozen beef is 6-12 months. Although it is vacuum packed 2 years seems like a reach. I believe they should be discarded Sorry for the bad news. If you have any other food storage concerns go to

Take Care,
Carl
