Food Safety Issues/Hot Dogs

Question
How long do hot dogs last in the freezer?

Thanks

Robin

Answer
Dear Robin,

The recommendation for hot dogs is 6 months -- but that is based on quality not safety. Hot dogs can be safely frozen much longer but they may begin to take on unappetizing changes such as color changes, flavor changes, etc.  These changes are not unsafe to consume -- just not very tasty!
