Food Safety Issues - fresh pumpkin

Expert: Carol Schlitt - 11/18/2007

Question
how long will fresh pumpkin last in the fridge? freezer?
thank you

Answer
Hi Shasta,

Fresh cooked pumpkin that has been removed from the outer skin will last in the refrigerator up to 5 days. For longer storage you can freeze it and use within 6 months for maximum quality.

If you are referring to a pumpkin that has not been cooked, an un-cut pumpkin will last in the refrigerator about a month.

Happy Holidays.

Carol
