-----Question-----
Hello! This may sound stupid but I'm "food challenged"! haha............My boyfriend's favorite candy is only sold at Valentine's. I thought it would be sweet to give him packages of it year round from time to time. Is there something I need to do to it in order to make it safe for Thanksgiving? Thanks a lot.
-----Answer-----
Hi Kim,

What kind of candy is it?   It makes a difference on the advice I'd give for long-term storage depending upon the type of candy.

If you could send the type or name of the candy I'll see if there is specific long-term storage for that particular type.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks

Answer
Hi Kim,

You should freeze the candies in the original package that is then over-wrapped in freezer-safe packaging -- heavy-duty foil, freezer plastic bag or rigid freezer plastic containers.  Try to eliminate as much air as possible. Label and freeze for up to 1 year.

When you take the candy out of the freezer, allow to defrost at room temperature.

I hope this works for you and that your boyfriend appreciates your efforts for getting his favorite candy for him to enjoy all year long.
