I will not dignify rude or disparaging comments with a response. I also will not entertain questions that use profanity. Football officials don't seek to “screw” any team Such an insinuation is ridiculous and ludicrous.
Question I am 30 years old and have spent the last 6 years in corporate america. I
recently decided to pursue my dream of becoming football coach. Currently I
am teaching high school business and coaching JR high athletics. My dream is
to coach at the college level and after to talking to several coaches I know
that I must start out as a GA. My question is how do I start that process and
how to do I go about getting a GA spot.
Answer Rod
Congratulations on having the courage to pursue your dream. You will need to network and market yourself. A good way to network is to attend coaching clinics and conferences. Ask questions and be honest about your desire and your efforts to date. Try coaching at the high school level even if you walk on as a volunteer coach. Build your resume. As for getting started with a GA position: start contacting colleges' athletic departments and start going to coaching clinics.
